The man who died in a road traffic crash in Offaly yesterday was a Franciscan brother and a native of Corrandulla.
Brother Michael Burke died after the car he was driving collided with a truck on the N62 at Cloghan around 4 o’clock yesterday afternoon.
Brother Burke, who was in his 60s, was fatally injured in the collision, while the driver of the truck managed to escape injury.
Brother Burke had a long history of involvement with the Franciscan Agricultural College in Mountbellew until he was promoted in the Franciscan order almost two years ago.
Gardai are conducting a technical examination of the scene.
