A woman has been appointed to Galway Race committee for the first time ever.
Zoe Fitzgerald is the first woman to sit on the committee since its foundation almost 150 years ago in 1869.
Mrs. Fitzgerald is a native of Galway City and is well known in the hospitality sector due to her role as Marketing Manager of Renvyle House Hotel, which is owned by her family.
The mother of two has always held a strong interest in the equestrian world and is looking forward to continuing a family tradition as her father John Coyle served on the committee and is now an honorary member.
She’ll attend her first race meetings as a member at next week’s two day Autumn Festival.
Zoe says she’s looking forward to bringing her expertise to the country’s biggest racing festival.
