Gardaí in Connemara are advising the owners of Bed and Breakfasts to be particularly vigilant at the moment.
It follows break-ins at two locations in recent days.
One of the break-ins happened at a Bed and Breakfast in the townland of Glengevlagh north of the village of Leenane.
The house was ransacked in this incident which happened in the daytime.
A similar type of incident happened at a Bed and Breakfast house close to the Galway road – east of Clifden town.
This break in also happened in the daytime.
There was nobody in either house when the intruders struck.
It is understood that both houses were extensively ransacked and that some valuables were taken.
However, there is no confirmation of cash robberies.
Suspicious activity was also reported in the Recess area in recent days.
Gardai in Clifden have advised B&B owners to be particularly vigilant as regards visitors to their houses and to take precautions to protect their premises.
