A fire which damaged a block of apartments in Portumna yesterday behind the former Shannon Oaks Hotel re-ignited overnight.
One unit of the Portumna Fire Brigade was called out again in the early hours of today to quell the blaze.
The fire did serious damaged to the block of apartments behind the former hotel on the Woodford Road, Portumna which were being renovated.
The Shannon Oaks Hotel closed in 2011 after it was severely damaged in a major blaze in September of that year.
This weekend’s fire in the apartments beside the Portumna hotel is feared to be another major setback for long-awaited plans to renovate and re-open the hotel.
