Asking prices for homes in Galway have surged over the past 12 months and now stand almost 15 percent higher than this time last year.
That’s according to the latest findings from property website Daft.ie, which published it’s latest quarterly report this morning.
According to property group Daft, the average price of a home in Galway during the third quarter of this year stands at just over €172,000.
That’s an increase of 13.3 percent when compared to the figure for the same time last year – and well above the national average of 7.6%.
In the city, the average home will set buyers back almost €250,000 – an increase of almost 12 percent compared to the third quarter of 2015.
The figures mean that on average, house prices in Galway have risen by almost 50 percent since their lowest point during the recession.
Leitrim has experienced the biggest surge in value compared to last year, with the average home costing just under €120,000 – an increase of almost 20 percent.
Meanwhile, South Co. Dublin saw a slight rise of just 1.3 percent, with homes now commanding an average asking price of over €500,000.
