Around 187 men in Galway are diagnosed with prostate cancer every year.
That’s according to new figures from the Irish Cancer Society.
The charity says one in eight Galway men are at risk of getting the disease.
The society, in partnership with The Movember Foundation, has said that while survival rates for prostate cancer are steadily increasing, men are still in need of a lot of post-treatment support.
The Irish Cancer Society this week launched its ‘Movember’ prostate cancer awareness month, which sees men grow mustaches for charity.
3,400 men are diagnosed with the disease each year in Ireland.
