Plans have been submitted for a motorway service area for the M17/M18 in Tuam, which will be similar to the ‘Galway plaza’ at Kiltullagh.
Supermac’s boss Pat McDonagh and landowner Michael Mannion have applied for permission for the facility where the Gort to Tuam motorway will meet the new Tuam bypass at Kilmore.
The development on the Galway Road is on the site of the existing Top Oil filling station at Manwar Business Park, and will include a new service station building with convenience shop, off licence, food court and seating area, as well as a drive-thru and toilet facilities.
The new fuel facilities will include six pumps with canopy over, underground fuel storage tanks and associated site works and connections to existing services, parking circulation space and access provision which will consist of a vehicular entrance from the N17 combining two existing access points into one.
The existing service station fuel points will facilitate HGV vehicles with the existing car wash relocated and a new car wash building and ancillary site office provided.
A decision is due from county planners next month.
