OPW Minister and Galway East TD Sean Canney has committed to developing the planned Lakelands tourism initiative in Galway East, Roscommon, Longford and Westmeath.
Minister Canney has met with Fáilte Ireland to discuss the branding initiative, which would see a marketing of the Lakelands district similar to the Wild Atlantic Way.
The Lakelands programme is included in the Programme for Government, and it’s hoped the scheme would significantly boost tourism in the East Galway region.
Minister Canney says the district has a huge selection of attractions and deserves parity of branding with the established initiatives
