A special event to remember the children who died at the Tuam Mother and Baby Home will take place in the town on Thursday.
Organisers are hoping to light and send a lantern into the night sky for each of the 796 children recorded as having died at the home.
Speakers at the event will include local historian Catherine Corless and a range of people connected with the home during it’s operation until 1961.
The event will take place at the site of the former home at Athenry Road on Thursday at 7pm.
Those who attend the memorial are asked to bring lanterns and tealights.
