Gas Networks Ireland has restored supply to all areas in Galway which were affected by the safety warning about odourless gas.
Meanwhile, the energy safety regulator has announced a full investigation will be undertaken into the cause of the technical fault at Corrib Gas, which left 10,000 homes across Galway and Mayo without a supply.
The Commission for Energy Regulation said restoring odourised gas was the first priority, but an investigation in to the fault will be carried out.
Gas Networks Ireland said it is now safe to switch the gas back on in the following areas:
- Galway City
- Oranmore
- Salthill
- Claregalway
- Tuam
- Headford
- Claremorris
- Westport
- Ballinrobe
- Crossmolina
The locations which remain affected are Castlebar and Ballina.
