Plans to develop a 60-bed nursing home on the site of the derelict Warwick Hotel in Salthill are under consideration by Galway City Council.
Rushmany Homes – which already operates Rushmore Nursing Home in Knocknacarra – bought the site two years ago for a figure believed to be in the region of €700,000.
Last year, the company, which is headed up by Sharon and Paul Conlon – secured planning permission last year for the demolition of the defunct hotel.
The company has now sought permission for a four-storey, 60-bed nursing home, with surface carparking and a south-facing landscaped amenity and outdoor seating area.
The application reads: “This is an optimum location for the provision of a nursing home facility. Although a private development, it seeks to retain the engagement and connectivity with its neighbourhood.”
