Unlicensed guns are being seized by Gardai in North Galway.
People who have not renewed their firearms license are being warned their weapons will be confiscated.
The Gardaí in the Tuam District have seized a number of firearms in recent days from owners who have failed to pay the €80 licensing fee.
Sergeant Joe Cosgrove says they have a list of all the owners of firearms and those whose guns are being seized are the people who have not brought the completed licensing renewal form to their local post office.
He says that once a firearm is seized it will be put into storage by Gardaí.
The owner may face prosecution in the courts for having an unlicensed gun.
Sergeant Cosgrove says that the seizure of guns in this area is set to continue and anyone who has an unlicensed weapon should take immediate steps to pay the fee.
