Galway City Council says the Travellers currently blockading City Hall cannot stay there over the weekend.
The Travellers had previously illegally moved into Galway Airport in Carnmore overnight before moving to City Hall, where they’re currently blocking the entrance with their vehicles and caravans.
Gardaí attended the airport earlier and the 9 families and their caravans exited the airport around lunchtime and made their way to College Road.
A meeting has been scheduled for 11am on Monday at City Hall to discuss the crisis.
However, Galway Traveller Movement says the families have nowhere safe to reside over the weekend.
