A group of inspirational cancer survivors – now known as the Pink Ladies – are taking to the catwalk for a very special evening of fashion and fun, all in aid of Breast Cancer Research (formerly NBCRI).

This very special fashion show takes place on Thursday, April 21, at 7pm at the g Hotel, Galway with RTÉ’s Teresa Mannion as MC.

The show features modelling debuts from the Pink Ladies, a group of inspirational women from each decade of life who have experienced breast cancer.  And the aim of the event is to increase breast awareness and raise much needed funds for world-class breast cancer research.

In addition, the event will provide an opportunity for The Pink Ladies to receive pampering, connect with one another, and feel empowered walking the catwalk.

“I am grateful to everyone who is supporting one of the most unique fundraising events we’ve hosted in our charity’s 25 years. Many thanks to The Pink Ladies, Teresa Mannion, the generous businesses involved, and all those who will be attending the event,” said Christine Costelloe, Development Director of BCR at last week’s launch of the event.

Teresa Mannion said she was delighted to be involved in the Breast Cancer Research Fashion Show which will help raise vital funds for the charity.

“The fact that The Pink Ladies are strutting the catwalk with professional models is testament to their triumph over adversity. They are remarkable women and great role models for people currently in the midst of their own cancer journey,” she said.

Catherine Masterson, event committee member and Clinical Nurse Specialist in Breast Care at the Symptomatic Breast Unit, University Hospital Galway and the Bon Secours Galway concurred.

“While everyone’s breast cancer journey is unique, knowing that others before you have been through something similar can give you the strength and inspiration to move forward with your life,” she said.

The event, produced by Catwalk Model Agency, will showcase designs and collections from Áil Rúin, Anthony Ryans, Brown Thomas, Colette Latchford Fashions, Don’t Call Me Dear, Ellie & Dal, Harper, The Kilkenny Shop, Suzie Mahony Designs, Niamh O’Neill, The Treasure Chest, and Willow.

It is also guaranteed to include style ideas for every age and budget and will be a perfect girl’s night out!

Proceeds from the event will support Breast Cancer Research, a national charity that raises funds in support of world-class breast cancer research at the National University of Ireland, Galway.

Donations to Breast Cancer Research are currently helping the research team at the Lambe Institute for Translational Research advance its work focused on personalised medicine, breast regeneration, and innovative diagnostics and therapeutics.  By funding this research, Breast Cancer Research aims to positively impact future outcomes for breast cancer patients.
