A former property developer who lived in Craughwell has been given a two-year suspended prison sentence after he pleaded guilty to wasting Garda time.
71 year old Kevin McGeever, formerly of ‘Nirvana’, Ballywinna, Craughwell and with an address more recently in Clontarf in Dublin was before Galway Circuit Criminal Court today.
The charges followed statements and reports he made to the Gardaí in 2013, alleging that he had been abducted and held in captivity for eight months.
He was charged with making false reports and statements to Gardaí on various dates between 29 January and 28 February 2013.
Mr McGeever, who had been reported missing in May 2012, was found by a couple wandering in a confused and dishevelled state on a boreen in County Leitrim in 2013.
