A body which was recovered yesterday from the sea about one kilometer south of Hare Island may be that of one of the two men missing in Galway since last month.
The body was recovered by the Coastal Rescue Unit from Costello Bay which was searching for the two missing men.
It was taken from the water before lunch-time yesterday (Saturday) and brought to University Hospital Galway, where a post mortem will take place.
Gardaí have said DNA samples have been taken from the families of the two men missing in the city and that has been forwarded to a laboratory for analysis.
But it will be at least tomorrow (Monday) before any positive identification can be made.
The two men missing and being searched for in Galway Bay are Anthony Henehan from Roscommon who has been missing since March 10th and Private Ben Garrett from Castlebar who is missing since March 31st
Gardaí say that searches for the missing men are ongoing in the Oranmore area and Galway Bay area.
