A county councillor is meeting with the Department of Transport around now to discuss concerns over school transport in the Annaghdown, Corrandulla and Corofin areas.
Councillor James Charity says series of errors in calculating routes by Bus Éireann over the last two years has seen many children in these areas have their eligibility for school bus transport to local secondary schools revoked.
He’s seeking guarantees on transport eligibility for the duration of secondary level education – and absolute clarity on the catchment area for local schools.
The meeting with Department officials is due to take place around now.
It follows the establishment of a new cross party group last week to help solve issues relating to concessionary charges for school bus services nationwide.
The group will meet for the first time early next month.
