ESB crews are working to restore power to Inis Meain and Inis Oirr following a major outage – but it may be midnight before the islands have electricity.
The ESB is investigating after power to the two smaller Aran Islands went out at 4.40am due to a fault.
Up to 400 customers on Inis Meain and Inis Oirr are affected by the outage – Inis Mór is not affected.
Crews are working to identify the cause of the fault and hope to restore power as quickly as possible.
However, according to the ESB, it may be midnight before the electricity supply is back.
