An application to retain a putting green and 12 additional driving range bays at Glenlo Abbey has been given the green light.
The plan had been appealed to An Bord Pleanála by two third parties.
The application led by Baswal Limited seeks to retain a practice putting green and 12 additional driving range bays.
It also involves associated floodlighting at the Glenlo Abbey Kentfield development.
It had been given approval by Galway County Council in February of this year with conditions.
However this decision was appealed in March.
Concerns from one third party included the ownership of the property.
Another appellant raises concerns regarding the impact of wayward golf balls on the residential amenity and the need for protective netting.
It was also feared that lighting would detract from the amenities of an unspoiled rural area.
An Bord Pleanála has now granted permission with revised conditions.
These include a stipulation that the hours of operation are from 8am to 8pm and floodlighting shall not extend beyond 8pm with automatic cut-off.
In making its decision, the board stated that the plan would not unduly affect the appearance of the area and would not seriously injure the amenities of the area or of property in the vicinity, and would not be prejudicial to public health.
