The Union of Students in Ireland will distribute flyers to hundreds of homes across Galway this week in a bid to encourage people to rent out rooms to college students.
The nationwide initiative will see the organisation distribute 100,000 flyers to property owners across Ireland, with a particular focus on Dublin, Galway and Cork.
Homeowners can earn up to €12,000 tax-free by renting rooms to students.
The initiative comes as thousands of prospective college students begin searching for accommodation in Galway having received their Leaving Cert results today.
