Strong turnout in city for Galway Pride parade

There was a strong turnout in the city this afternoon for this year’s Galway Pride Parade.
Crowds lined the street as the festival’s biggest parade to date made it’s way from Eyre Square down Shop Street towards Spanish Arch.
Taking part in this years parade were dozens of community groups from across the city and county, who sported a wide and colorful range of banners, placards and costumes.
Participants also carried with them a giant rainbow flag that stretched the width of the street and required about two dozen helping hands.
Now in its 27th year, the 2016 Galway Pride Festival got underway on Monday with a flag raising ceremony at Eyre Square.
