There are concerns over low farm incomes in Galway and the west.
The latest figures from the Revenue Commissioners show farmers in the west of Ireland are 70% lower than elsewhere in the country.
Galway Roscommon TD Michael Fitzmaurice says that successive Governments and farming organisations have tilted the emphasis in favour of larger farming operations.
The Independent deputy says that the CAP payments system should be geared towards smaller family farms.
Deputy Fitzmaurice also says that the supporting small farmers is key to rejuvenating rural Ireland
