€250,000 has been allocated to Galway County Council following a landslide which closed a section of the N59 for four days earlier this year.
The funding is part of a larger allocation of €1.6 million approved by Transport Infrastructure Ireland to repair Galway’s national primary and secondary road network following flood damage.
€967,000 has been allocated towards national secondary roads at various locations throughout the county.
These include the N65 at Gortymadden, the N83 at Brownsgrove Tuam and the N84 Headford Road.
€250,000 has been sanctioned for work on a section of the N59 following the landslide at Lettershea in June of this year.
€100,000 of this covers pavement overlay, while the remaining €150,000 is towards clean-up and emergency work costs.
OPW Minister and Galway East TD Sean Canney says the emergency funding is vital and will benefit a number of areas.
