Virgin hopes to upgrade broadband transmission site

Virgin Media is hoping to develop its transmission site in Abbeyknockmoy.
The company has applied to the county council for planning permission for the development at Glennaveel.
The works will include the replacement of an existing stayed 12-metre high telecommunications mast with a 26-metre high mast on a concrete base.
It’ll also include the transfer of 6 dishes from the existing mast to the new mast and over time to add 9 more dishes to supply broadband and phone customers in the surrounding area.
A decision is due on the Virgin Media upgrade in Abbeyknockmoy next month.
