The Bon Secours Health System chief says a new cardiac unit at the Dublin Road hospital will take some pressure off Galway’s public hospitals.
An Taoiseach Enda Kenny is in the city this evening to turn the first sod on the €6 million Cardiology Service centre.
The new unit will treat patients requiring procedures such as angiography, and cardiac angioplasty including the insertion of pacemakers.
The new unit involves 20 clinical posts and knock-on jobs in the construction industry.
An Taoiseach said the facility will help to improve patients’ experience of the healthcare system.
Bon Secours CEO Bill Maher says the unit will help to ease the pressure on the public hospital system.
