Roscam residents are demanding the scrapping of plans to bring the proposed Galway-Dublin Greenway through the area.
The controversial route is currently stalled following objections from Galway farmers last year, which led to the suspension of funding for the Athlone to Galway section.
At a public meeting held last night, those in attendance heard there has been zero consultation with local landowners and residents on plans to bring the route through Roscam.
They claim that the matter only came to light following a study of the Draft City Development Plan, which is set to be voted on by Councillors in the coming weeks.
They’re now demanding that the proposal for the greenway to cut through the Roscam and Ballyloughane areas be sent back to the drawing board.
Ciaran Lynch of the Roscam Residents’ Association says the situation has been mishandled.
Fianna Fail Councillor Michael Crowe says he’ll be seeking the support of his colleagues to ensure the plan does not go ahead.
