The Gardai and fire services have begun patrols at wildfire hotspots across the county.
The clampdown aims to prevent the illegal burning of dry vegetation which is prohibited from the start of March to the end of August.
Lighting such fires in dry, warm, windy conditions can lead to uncontrollable blazes which pose a serious danger to the public.
The Garda helicopter has also been called in to assist in the planned operation.
Paul Duffy, Assistant Chief Fire Officer, said the fires are also a massive drain on vital resources, and officers could be fighting gorse fires rather than attending road traffic collisions.
