Galway Bay fm newsroom – Fire crews were called to tackle a blaze in Bearna overnight after a house was struck by lightning.
Two units of the fire service responded to calls at around 1.30am – a short time after thunderstorms erupted across the county.
They spent just over two hours hours at the scene bringing the fire under control.
A number of lightning strikes were reported across the city and county overnight – and Met Eireann is warning there may be further thundery showers this morning.
