Galway Bay fm newsroom – Galway County Council is to monitor the traffic management plan for the N59 tomorrow morning after concerns from motorists about long delays today.
Roadworks are underway along the route near Killeen House and motorists have reported delays of up to an hour to reach Galway city.
The work is part of the laying of a 110KV electricity line from Roscahill to Ballybrit.
The project is being undertaken by GMC Utilities Group Limited on behalf of SSE and is expected to be complete by September.
A traffic management plan is in place however motorists feel the sequence of the traffic lights is delaying traffic.
GMC and SSE are now reviewing flagmen timings and the sequence of the lights to give preference to inbound city traffic in the morning and outbound traffic in the evening.
Connemara area Councillor Noel Thomas told Keith Finnegan that the county council is giving the company one more day to see if the traffic plan needs to be changed.
