Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to an assault of a sexual nature that occurred in the city in the early hours of Saturday.
A woman was walking to work along the Rahoon Road near Ivor’s at 6.30am when she was approached by a man coming from the Seamus Quirke Road direction.
The man, described as about 25 years of age, 5’10” in height and with fair hair, attempted to engage the woman in conversation.
He then tried to put his arm around her and when she told him to stop, he groped her before fleeing the scene when she began to scream.
The man was wearing a grey jacket with a collar and blue jeans.
Anybody with information is asked to contact Galway Garda Station on 091-538000.
