A search operation is underway this evening at Galway Docks following unconfirmed reports that a person entered the water at around 4.40pm.
A Coast Guard Search and Rescue helicopter, Galway Lifeboat, Fire and Rescue Galway and the Gardaí and are at the scene.
A Garda spokesperson said an operation is underway but could not confirm if someone had definitely entered the water.
