Right2Water Galway is holding a rally in the city this afternoon at which water charge protestors are planning to burn their bills.
The event aims to reinforce the group’s belief that Irish Water should be scrapped entirely.
Right2Water campaigners are planning to light a fire, and burn the bills they’ve received to date, ahead of the suspension of charges next month.
However, the government says customers remain liable for water charges incurred up to the end of the June billing cycle.
The anti-water charges demonstration gets underway at Eyre Square at 2pm.
Campaigner Dette McLoughlin says the bill burning aspect will be carefully managed in terms of health and safety.
