A Galway TD is calling for the establishment of a County Galway Flood Forum.
Deputy Ciaran Cannon says it would allow greater co-operation between agencies responsible for flood measures – and help ensure maximum funding is obtained for badly-needed works.
The Fine Gael T.D has crossed the political divide to team up with Fianna Fáil’s Anne Rabbitte and Independent OPW Minister Seán Canney to push for the forum.
They have written to the Chief Executive of the county council requesting that the local authority be the lead agency in hosting the proposed forum.
Deputy Cannon says the main aim is to promote greater co-operation between the various state bodies responsible for developing flood measures.
