Specialist machinery is being brought in to fix a major water leak in the city.
A watermain burst at Bóthar na Cóiste off the Headford Road this morning.
As a result, households and businesses on the east side of the city are experiencing disruption to the water supply, especially those served by the Ballybane and Briarhill reservoirs.
The areas affected include Briarhill, Parkmore, Ballybane, Renmore, Wellpark and Coolagh
Council water services crew are on site and expect water to be disrupted for the next few hours.
Meanwhile, in the county there will be disruption to water supply in the Timadooaun area in Clonberne due to emergency repair works on a bridge in the area.
The county council hopes the water will be restored this evening.
